Dear Readers,
This is my last post at GeneticsAndHealth.com. As I hinted at last week, I’m considering career options and have decided it’s time to focus on genetics, and genetics alone. I’m sure you would agree there is no better time to become fully immersed in the genome revolution.
Today is also my last day as a part of b5media.com where I served as writer and Science and Health Channel Editor over the past 18 months. There are no better people anywhere to work with. I have learned so much from my time with b5media, knowledge that I would never have gained anywhere else.
Thank you also to every single one of you who has visited Genetics and Health over the past two years. I hope you will join me at at my new blog - Eye On DNA, where I plan to continue documenting the genome revolution. You can subscribe to Eye on DNA using this RSS feed and I’d be very grateful if you’d add EyeOnDNA.com to your blogroll!
If you’re interested in working for b5media and perhaps writing Genetics and Health yourself, please fill in this application form.
See you at Eye on DNA!
Hsien

From Federal Computer Week, an article about blogging and social media in government health agencies, including the CDC.
Health care blogs are sprouting up with names such as Genetics and Health, Trusted.MD, The Health Care Blog and Diabetes Mine. They typically link to other health care blogs, forming a loose network of shared information that might or might not stand up to inspection by the American Medical Association.
“We’re entering an era where blogs have become the new credible source of health information because much of it is coming from people like yourself,” said Craig Lefebvre, a visiting professor at George Washington University’s School of Public Health and Health Services and a consultant to several federal health agencies. “But just like with early Web sites, we will go through a process of sorting out the quality from less quality blogs.”
So what do you think? Do I produce a “quality” blog or a “less quality” blog?

It is important to learn not only about the variety of essentials oils and their benefits, but also the way to properly combine them with a carrier oil before applying to the skin. Essential oils are concentrated and alone are very potent. Carrier oils carry essential oils to the skin safely. If essential oils are applied directly to the skin they can irritate it and have a negative effect instead of fulfilling their helpful, healing purpose.

Over the past two years here at Genetics and Health, I’ve written almost 2,000 posts all about genetics, genes, the genome, and DNA. Having the opportunity to write about my lifelong passion is a dream come true. So that I can improve and grow as a genetics blogger, writer, and commentator, I’ll be re-evaluating my future in genetics over the next couple of weeks.
Stay tuned. Big news coming up.
